A model hovercraft can be as entrancing as a full size craft!
Click for more information about different kinds of model hovercraft I've
enjoyed building:
Battery Powered (the easiest option)
My first three battery powered crafts
An RC version of the Universal Hovercraft 23 inch craft
A fast recharging craft - converted airplane toy
Fuel powered -- using a model
airplane engine (the longest running, the smelliest, the noisiest,
the most powerful, and the most exciting option!)
A single engine craft
A twin engine craft that can
ride over grass (a daunting challenge for small model hovercrafts)
A peripheral jet craft Look, no skirt!
Rubber-band powered (the silliest option!),
My first rubber band powered model
A second improved rubber band powered model
Simple Flywheel powered,
Compressed Air powered
CO2 powered (whoops - this one didn't pan out!)
Solar powered (using photoelectric cells -- this one worked!)
Not only is modeling cheaper than a full-size craft, but it is a lot easier to answer one of the
questions people ask most frequently about any hovercraft: What does the bottom look like?"
(This is now out of date and will be replaced.)
See the model hovercraft section of my list of hovercraft web pages for
